    Ok peeps.
    this is my first time trying to make Irish Soda Bread. It split during baking.

    This is a design feature to simplify slicing when you need to make a muffuletta or similar

      While it looks in your pics that you scored the top, the seam around the middle was weaker than your score ... so that's the escape route that steam took.
