How to get sticky dough off your hands easily

Earlier today I was watching one of Kenji's videos in which he makes a pizza dough. At the end of one kneading step, his hands are absolutely covered with sticky dough.

What he did next floored me as it is so simple......in fact, he doesn't even draw attention or mention that he is doing it in the video, but he takes some extra flour and coats his hands with it. He then rubs his hands together and the dough quickly balls up into little itty bitty balls and falls off into the sink.

A few moments ago I found myself in the exact situation with ultra-sticky dough all over my hands. I did the flour trick and it works beautifully!

It makes sense why it works....odd that I never thought of doing it. Sure beats smearing dough around under water!

That will work. Also, wetting your hands when handling dough helps. I don't hand knead much but I do stretch and fold dough and wet hands means that very little dough sticks to my hands. I just keep a bowl of water around when doing it.

I also just keep a bowl of water around. Mostly though, for the dog to drink out of.

Wow, lots easier than letting the dog lick them clean.

Just kidding, I've used the flour technique and also just wash in the sink.

I'm glad you are just kidding. Dog needs to save his energy for licking all the dishes clean.

Like rickgregory, I don't do much hand kneading. Usually it's just to check the feel of the dough before proofing. I also wet my hands, (not my pants ), to prevent most of the sticking.

      I also wet my hands...

It's got nothing to do with dough.
      Just thought I'd mention it...

A King Arthur Dough Whisk is a dandy for pulling the dough together and scraping the bowl out on the board to knead…

Flour on my hands shortens the hand sticking issues…

Extra flour is how I always do it. If I know it is going to be super sticky, I will wet my hands and work fast,
