Our Son's first time baking yeast bread.

A couple of months ago our Son mentioned that he had made a loaf of Irish soda bread and liked it. I thought about it and decided to help him make a boule of 100% ww bread when he came home for Christmas. So last night I got all the ingredients out and measured them so that he could put them together. He did that and the dough set on the counter overnight and I let him bake it off this morning. It was a success and he will probably bake more bread when he gets home.

It was not his favorite bread - the recipe only had four ingredients, (ww flour, water, salt, and yeast), and it was a bit bland. He was happy with the way it looked though and I think I have converted him to at least an occasional baker.

Very cool. It awesome to work with our kids! I’m going the other way and my daughter is going to teach me to make sour dough with one of her starters.

That is so awesome to pass on a skill such as baking to your progeny. Well done!

Very cool! I've also recently started baking. It's a lot like brisket in a way....it is so intimidating at first, but it is relatively straightforward. Yet, also like brisket, there are so many small variables that if tweaked properly can make something truly outstanding.

The butter didn't do anything wrong, so it didn't need a whippin'.

Try adding small chunks of gruyere throughout the dough then bake.............you/he can thank Lee later.

What I want to know is whether he is as good a wood working craftsman as you?

Not yet, but I'm hoping to change that. He has the right attitude but no experience.
