How do you store your yeast?

Once opened, the SAF instant yeast bags are pretty notorious for spillage. I've been putting the bag inside a zip lock in the fridge, but I'm thinking there must be a better way? How do you do it?

I just do what you do. You could put it in a 1 pint screwtop jar too. Or combine the approaches which would let you get the airout of the ziplock but have the rigidity of the jar so you don't risk the ziploc getting torn and ending up with yeast all over.

Pint jar in the fridge. I have 2 year old yeast that rises like the sun.

I think that's kind of a personal question.

Two mason jars. A quart size one in the freezer with the bulk of the yeast and a smaller one in the cabinet for day to day usage

I have a flip top storage jar with a gasket that I got from King Arthur. Holds up to a pound. It goes in the fridge.

Keep mine in the fridge as well. Lasts a good long time.

1 jar in the fridge… and 1 jar in the freezer in case there’s another pandemic. It will be worth as much as gold and toilet paper.

Sourdough. No need to buy yeast.

rickgregory true, but not everything I make is sourdough bread or has a sourdough starter.

Sure, but if there's a major pandemic, yeast isn't an issue. You can make a starter in a few days. The issue won't be how to get something to rise your dough, it will be getting hold of flour

I take a small amount out of the big package and put it in a small plastic container. The rest gets vacuum sealed. Both stay in the fridge.
