    Apple pie baked beans

My wife is an excellent cook. She’s always on the lookout for a new recipe for sides when we bbq or grill. She’s made some adjustments and this is one of the best I’ve tasted. This is perfect as an offset to Texas no sauce bbq. It is rich and deeply flavorful. Your guest will compliment you. For your consideration.

    Apple pie baked beans
    Course: side dish
Prep time 15 min, cook time 45 min, total 1 hour

    Ingredients
1-21 ounce can apple pie filling, cut into small pieces, or use a potato masher.
2-28 ounce cans Bushes baked beans
    1 cup ketchup
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/2 cup molasses
    2 tsp yellow mustard
4 tsp of bbq rub, she used Memphis dust
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 tsp ground nutmeg
    1 tsp ground cloves
8 slices of crisp bacon crumbled or sliced

    Instructions
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees F or use a slow cooker (she uses the oven)
Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl
Pour into a baking dish, A 9x13 will work, it’s really too full, just a bit larger will be better.
My wife said next time will be in a slow cooker
Bake 45 to 50 until the bean are bubbly

These are rich, sweet, and excellent with beef or pork.

This sounds wrong, but at the same time wonderful. I'm going to have to give it a try.

Being from Georgia I do a version of this with peach pie filling that goes over really well. I'm a big fan of apples though so I'm going to have to give this a try. Appreciate it!

Sounds interesting enough to save off in Paprika for a future cook. I might try it on the grill though, but we'll see.
