Beans w/ tri tip: simple recipe please?

    Hello everyone,
Gonna grill a tri tip for fam.
Looking for simple beam recipe as side. Want it to be palatable for the young ones and the picky adults.
Im thinking pintos or piquintos if I can find them.
What is a simple and tasty recipe you’d recommended to go w/ grilled tri tip?
    Thanks in advance!

I apologize for the oversimplification and ignorance here. My tendency is to get too complicated and overdub. Can’t taste the beans.
could I simply dice & crisp sone bacon, add onions & peppers, add a couple cans of pintos, pinks or piquintos incline the can liquid. Add a tad bit of ketchup and a squirt of mustard? Or even just the beans, can liquid, onions & pepper? Perhaps a bay leaf, s & p?
Hoping for sone suggestions from those more experienced w/ these simple bean recipes.
    Thanks in advance.

I had an eye opener at a Mexican bodega that had a lunch counter- grill. I got a plate of carne asada, fresh tortillas, rice, and simple pintos only in their own broth. Simple delicious, just tased the beans. Allowed beef to shine and complemented it.

Simple is relative but this wasn’t too bad imo made it this week with tri tip

Santa Maria Pinquito Beans are the perfect barbecue side dish! Often served with grilled tri tip, these beans are smokey and sweet with a great spice blend.

My go to recipe has always been beans, a smoked ham hock, and S & P.

If you can’t come up with a ham hock the pork Little Smokies give much the same flavor. I cut them in half long ways before throwing them in.

Pretty simple and somewhat authentic Santa Maria beans recipe. It's not the one I use, but it's simple and close enough:

          Looks great.
Unfortunately my daughter in law can’t take smoke. Bacon is as smoky as she can do.

My parents would use cured bacon occasionally, but I always preferred the hock.

            Thanks everyone,
While the recipes for my piquinto beans look amazing, they’re just not what I’m looking for.
Need something that is not smoky or spicy. We’ve got grand children and a picky sensitive daughter in law.
Im thinking, beans in chicken stock, perhaps a bay leaf. Perhaps roast an onion and a couple mild chilies to dice and fry in some bacon fat. I don’t want sweet. Could something like that work?

For dry pinquintos from Rancho Gordo, ecowper has shown us that merely simmering them in chicken broth lets the natural bean flavor shine through. But GolfGeezer put up this recipe with seasoning very close to what you are suggesting and should work fine with canned.

I have never tried Pinquitos from a can. Honestly, I didn’t know that anyone was making canned Pinquitos.

They show that they’re available from Amazon - Whole Foods.
