I'm looking for a recipe for a smokey bbq sauce, not super sweet. Maybe smokey & spicy. Any suggestions? Most I am making are coming out on the sweeter side. Thanks!

I'd be happy to share my Huskee's Original Shawsh recipe with you. It is vinegary, ever so slightly spicy, and I used to use liquid smoke in it but don't anymore. You could add 1/2tsp liq smoke to it, or even 1 tsp. It is not sweet by itself, but it tends to take on a sweeter vibe when it's on meat. You could cut the sugar back a pinch if you really don't want that risk. Pretty easy, no blending, no straining, takes about an hour to simmer.

I once made Meathead's whiskey bbq sauce with a smokey/peaty scotch. Dumped a little too much Siracha hot sauce in it. Sounds just like what you are looking for and it was great!
