Blues Hog: what do you think?

    Hello,
I just got 2 24oz squeeze bottles of Blues Hog, one original & one Tennessee Red. What do you think of these and how do you use them, I.e., on what?
    Thanks in advance.

The Original is great on ribs. Haven’t sampled the red.

Depends what I'm cooking but OG is my favorite not just between the 3 varieties they offer but period. I'm not a huge sauce person but when I say favorite I mean it... Mixing them is fun too, the red is a little runny so it thickens it up mixing them.

I like all of their sauces. It is probably my favorite commercial brand. I prefer my own but I am too lazy to make them regularly.

Same. I like my own the most but am too lazy to always stock it. Blue’s Hog raspberry chipotle is really good. Their Champion blend is thinner and is engineered to layer glaze ribs.

1 part Blues Hog original and 1 part Head Country original is my BBQ sauce.

Blues hog is a bit thick for me. Try 1 part BH and 1 part Masterpiece (or other thin store bought sauce) and see if you like it. I use my sweet BBQ on ribs and pulled pork.

Meat Mitch Whomp sauce is really good.

I’m a Tennessee Red fan. It is what I serve on the side for pulled pork. To us it is a great sauce for pork steaks too. It is the only sauce I actually buy and I buy it by the jug. People compliment me on my special sauce and I just smile.

These are some of my favorite sauces. The original and the raspberry chipotle are my favorites. But the Tennessee Red and the Smokey Mountain sauce are great as well. You really can not go wrong with them. Amazing on pork belly and ribs.

Blues Hog is my favorite. Tennessee Red specifically! Like others, just easier to buy then make, although the sauces on this site are excellent! But I use the Red as an after cook sauce due to it being thin. The original, that is a good sauce to use while cooking if you like that. It’s good as well. The Champion Sauce, I believe is a combination of Original and Red - also excellent!

pork, chicken for the original, Red even on some fattier style beef like brisket if you like. The vinegar balances out the richness of the beef.

              Hope you enjoy those!

Like all of their sauces. The original is think, but goes with everything. The Tennessee Red is much thinner than all their other sauces, so brush it on ribs a few minutes before taking them off and also use it on pork sandwiches.

I like the Tennessee Red. I prefer thinner sauces with a kick of vinegar.

Both are great. Have one original in the fridge and another in the pantry. Need to get some more Tennessee Red. The Red is excellent with pulled pork.

If you haven’t tried Blues Hog yet, or if you want to try a new flavor without having to buy a full size bottle, check your local Walmart. They sell sample size bottles of them, and others, for a dollar or less! The bottles are 3.5 oz each and should be enough for one decent sized cook. They won’t be on the shelf with the other BBQ sauces, I found mine in a bin full of sample size stuff, well away from the condiments aisle. I bought 4 or 5 sample size bottles of BBQ sauce, some from Blues Hog and a few from someone else, don’t remember. They were marked as $1. each, but when I checked out, some were 50 cents and some were 75 cents and one of them was $1.

I use the Championship as a primary then the Original. Just found Kinder Gold which is great with pulled pork. Good flavor but not so strong as to overpower the pork flavor.
