Hello All!
Long time lurker, first time poster (I think!)
I've loved Rudy's Sause from Texas for many years, but shipping from Texas to California is getting prohibitive. Does anyone know of a recipe to approximate that spicy tangy flavor? It doesn't need to be exact; I'm just looking for something with that type of flavor profile that I can make at home.
I am guessing that any sauce that says it is a Texas sauce will get close. I doubt you have Aldi stores in California, but they usually carry a Texas regional sauce.

Create your own amazing East Carolina vinegar BBQ sauce and mop with this simple to follow recipe. Tangy and spicy, Low Country vinegar sauce is great for finishing fatty pork and does double duty as a baste (or mop) for adding layers of flavor to the meat as it cooks. Because it is so thin, it penetrates deep.
could be a start for you at least, but either way these are both excellent sauces! My two favorites that I make!

We are also full on Rudy's Sause addicts, and I get it shipped here to Virginia regularly, it's something we're just not willing to be without. Yes, it's not cheap, but life is short, so we just budget for it.
That said, my lovely bride has in fact come pretty close with a recipe she experimented with a couple of times. I'll see if we can dig that up for ya!
Edit: The one she used may well have been the one that barelfly posted - will check back.
I have a Rudy's literally 10 minutes from my house. Been there once and it was surprisingly good for a chain. Think I'll take me a ride over there and git me some 'que
They're definitely decent. Spares and baby backs are quite good, brisket usually very solid (and they give you the choice between point, which they label "moist", and flat, which they label "lean"). But their pulled pork is only braised, it's not smoked, or if it does get a smoke step, it's early and relatively brief, followed by hours in liquid. Turkey is very good too.

We do in fact have a couple of Aldis in town. I'll check it out...Thanks!
