    Franklin’s BBQ Sauce

I just got back from my local Kroger’s and saw they are now carrying 3 variety’s of Franklin’s BBQ Sauce. I can’t say if it’s being carried nationwide or not. Anytime there’s a spicy option, I usually go with that first, so I picked up a bottle. Has anyone tasted his sauce before? If so, what did you think? I might try some this weekend. It was on sale for $4.99 reg. $5.49…..woo hoo! 🙄

The vinegar one is good on wings. I use that one fairly regularly. It is nice and thin. (wait, we still talkin' sauces? )

Thanks John, I’ll try that one next.

I have never purchased his sauces - I don’t know if they are here in the ABQ area, but I have made a few from his book and really liked them.

And the vinegar, as is usual with sauces for me, was my favorite.

Do you have to stand in line for 6 hours at the grocery store to buy them?

        😂

I got there right at opening time, only an hour and a half wait.

Wow! You shop somewhere other than HEB? You must be hitting the Coor's Light a little hard.

I wish my H‑E‑B was a little closer, it’s 5 miles away vs 1 mile for the Kroger.

Oh the joys of rural life! Our little local grocery store is about 3 miles away. The nearest HEB is 35 miles away, Walmart is 30 miles as is United Supermarket. But the serenity and quite we enjoy are so worth it. I am a true introvert at heart. I’m not handicapped by it I still love going to all kinds of events, but home is where I go to recharge my battery.

I've had Franklin's original, its a good standard Texas style sauce.

        You can make them yourself.
The recipes for Regular, Espresso, and Vinegar BBQ Sauce are in his book.
Franklin Barbecue, A Meat-Smoking Manifesto on pages 192-193.
        Very good book IMO.

Thanks. I’ve got the book, and yeah it’s a great read! It’s been a while since I’ve read it, forgot the recipe is in there.

I picked up the vinegar and regular when I was in Katy last year about this time. They were okay, but not as good as what I have made using his recipes. Sorry to say I threw away what was left of each of them recently when we were cleaning out the fridge. I was in the same store a couple of days ago and wasn't tempted to buy more.
