I have more than a few "MAC people" friends. They do have misunderstood sensibilities. 
But being a "Linux people" myself, I am not in any position talk.
Also, HEIC is not supported by any browser accept Safari. Even if this forum software did support it, the images would have to converted to another format (usually JPG) to be able to render.
I really want to find a way to make this easy for iPhone users uploading native HEIC format images.
There might be a simple solution. If I can find a way to add the "accept" parameter to the file input field, then your iPhone or MAC *should* auto convert for you.
If that does not work, I will try to add an auto conversion to the code. No promises on anything like that soon.
