    Security Token Missing

raywjohnson First time I've ever seen this happen. Happens when I reply to a post, attempt to like someone's reply. Happening multiple times on various posts. Thought you'd like to know about it, in case others are seeing the same thing. If I click ok, it does let me try again, and it generally works at that point.

I have gotten it multiple times trying to post from my phone. I could not post a photo of the air quality index, it kept kicking me out.

I understand why it would happen to Panhead John…but not the rest of you!

That should not happen. I can only think of two things that could interfere with that. The same two things that are the primary cause of most issued. Cache and cookies. But in this case, I do not suspect either.

This is unlikely to be a cookie issue as your security token is in the HTML. I say "your" as all members are assigned their own token.

I would suspect cache, but the error is "security_token_missing" versus either security_token_invalid or security_token_timeout. An outdated or expired token would have given one of the other error messages.

My guess is that when you loaded the topic to read, reply, and like, the security token failed to be set.

If this happens again, please try this (to help me debug it). Hard refresh the page (CTRL+F5 or CMD+R). If there was some issue with the token, that should fix it.

Thanks Ray! I’m out of town for the week on vacation, and probably won’t be on the site much. But I’ll definitely check this out when I’m back. Thanks!

I'm having the same issue with the error message, I tried both refreshes and it still won't let me upload pics. Thanks, Bill

Cool. Thanks. Ok. Hmmm. I will be doing some investigations and testing. Try to figure out what is causing the problem.

Try uploading now.The only thing I found that changed (3 days ago) was the SSL certificate.

I cleared the CloudFlare cache and the vbulletin cache. And restarted the Apache Webserver Service.

The only way I can debug this is to login to your account and test. If I can upload, then the issue is on your device.

I will do that now. But this will mean I have to change your password. I will send you the password reset email so you can restore it.

So I could upload via your account.

I need to know more about what you are trying to do.

How many images are you trying to upload?

              What are the error messages?

What forum are you trying to upload to?

              What device are you using?

What image format are you trying to upload?

I was just able to upload pics from my iPhone, but still can't from my computer. Guess it's something wrong on my end. Do you have any suggestions how to fix it on my end?

                Thanks, Bill

              #12
wrgilb HEIC? That is probably the issue. Amazing Ribs doesn't support HEIC images; you're getting the wrong error message, for some reason.

What you should be getting is this:

Click image for larger version Name:	image.png Views:	0 Size:	42.1 KB ID:	1871598

The reason it works on the iPhone is that the phone will convert them to JPGs on the fly and then upload them. The MBP will not...you have to convert them manually via Preview. (Lemme know if you'd like me to walk you through it.)

For those who have no idea what an HEIC is....it's Apple native image file format on iOS (iPhone/iPad).....High Efficiency Image Container. It is a superior format....but not widely supported outside of professional graphics programs and the Mac world.

I click on the photo and then click preview and saved to photos, that image shows as Image.png. I tried to upload this image and got the same message as before. What should I do after I click on preview to get a JPG image. Thanks for the help.

wrgilb Let's make sure it is actually changing the format when you're saving it.

In Preview, choose Export from the File menu:

Name:	image.png
Views:	38
Size:	1.86 MB
ID:	1871639

Then on the resulting dialog box, change your destination (I used the Desktop), make sure the extension is jpg, and that JPEG is listed in the format box.

              Give that a try.

That works. Is there any way to be able to save to photos instead of desktop?

I had to play with this a bit, but the answer does seem to be yes!

In Preview, instead of selecting Export Selected Images, choose Share, then Add to Photos. This should add it to your photos library. It will still be an HEIC file, but when I upload them it does the "iPhone thing" and automatically converts them to JPG and AmazingRibs likes it.

And you are most welcome. Macs, while the most awesome and powerful personal computers and fashion accessories on the planet, can be a bit weird at times.

(Ray is reading this and is like.....you Mac people...... )

I tried this, but mine saves it as a .png image and that won't upload to AR.
