We had a 3” diameter hail stone come through both glass panes of our dining room window.
Large hail is not all that uncommon in eastern New Mexico. My roofer told me roofs with solar panels should have class 4 shingles. Those are about $1,850 upgrade from class 2 shingles.
I just can’t do solar as it’s a conflict of interest after working in the natural gas and oil field 42 years. Can you shut off the commercial power account using solar panels?
Can you get one of those solar panels that are mounted on the ground that follows the sun? And then maybe if it knew hailstorm is coming it could point straight up?
Have not seen hail any larger than 3/16 - 1/4 in ABQ area.
Funny you should ask that about shutting off commercial power.
I just sent an email to our solar company asking for an explanation how this solar is supposed to work.
Seems like PNM is supplying power to house and solar is just sending power to PNM to reduce bill.
Have had 2 outages in the last year during daytime so solar did nothing to prevent that.
Lost a hard drive in one of the outages.
Only been in house a year and solar was here.

a friend of a friend had a lien put on his house for $18,000 upon selling his house by the solar company that installed the system. The home seller is going to lose $18,000

The $18,000 was the remaining loan balance on the solar system that was on the house. The company that put the solar system on the house wants their money before he sold his house.
