Breeo X Series 24 Smokeless Fire Pit, by Dave Joachim
Same. My only issue is I live in a cold area and we love bonfires for warmth in cooler months like right now. Being as tall as they are your legs get no heat, it's mostly visual. I'd love a short one that functioned. I've considered putting one in a pit, but that's not without potential troubles.
We’ve had a 24” for a number of years and really like it. The one thing to know is that for it to be smokeless it needs a pretty good size fire — which means it eats wood at a pretty impressive rate.
On Huskee’s comment, it’s true that needing to keep the wood below the rim means you don’t get as much direct heat to the sides. The diffuser they sell though solves that problem very well. Even with the laser cut logo on top I can hold my hand an inch from the surface while the fire is ripping and feel nothing. It’s pushing all the heat out to the sides.
I have a Breeo but don't cook on it. I switched from a Solo Stove to a Breeo being I built a firepit area including a brick surround. The Breeo you can drop into a surround whereas you can't do that with a Solo stove (or least couldn't a couple of years ago when we built it in).
I'm a big fan. Once lit it is pretty smokeless and gets the wood going. It does churn through a ton of wood though.
Huskee - Solo stove sells a heat deflector that looks like a UFO that sits on top and it directs the heat downward. It makes adding more wood a little more difficult but can be an option (at an additional cost) if you are looking for one of these but need the heat to be deflected down
Huskee - Yes, I have (had? not sure if I sold it when I sold my Solo) one. It does work as advertised. The Solo stove puts out a ton of heat and the deflector really does work as intended.to keep your legs/lower body warm.
Agreed that it is expensive - everything they sell seems like 20% too expensive for what it is.
I’ve had a breeo for about 5 years and I love the fires and really enjoy cooking on the outpost attachment. The inner sheet of metal has rusted through so it’s no longer double walled but I think a lot of that smokeless air flow technology is baloneous.
Yeah just the inner wall. It is thin and has a bunch of holes lining the top for air flow. It rusted from the holes till the inner wall fell apart. I could take better care of it to keep it dry in the winter… but it’s a fire pit.
