Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Bill McGrath's Best Wireless Thermometers: A Comparison, by Bill McGrath
What's the best wireless thermometer for you? Bill reviews the seven top products below, including key features to watch for, with a pros and cons chart:
Combustion Predictive Thermometer
FireBoard Pulse
Meater Pro Duo / Pro XL
Tappecue AirProbe3 (Tappecue has since gone out of business)
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
And THANK YOU for pointing out the problem with apps. Everyone seems to love FireBoard’s app; I find it ABSOLUTELY MADDENING. Fortunately I only use it to monitor temp and change settings as needed. If I actually cared about tracking and graphing my cook, I would have gone nuts trying to figure it out. As it is, every time I use it, I poke around, touching this and that and trying to figure out how to access what I really want to do. And TempSpike’s app is worse, I never did figure that one out. But all my TempSpike stuff is in a bag in a drawer somewhere.
I really like my Combustion probes but since every one is the same color it is easy to lose track of which probe is inserted into which piece of meat, especially when you are cooking several identical cuts. You can name each in the app but that doesn’t help identifying which probe is in a particular piece of meat if you do any rotation in the chamber. I’ve tried different methods of marking each probe such as silicone bands and ink markings but nothing seems to last long. So, in my view, a lack of different head colors makes it great for monitoring one piece of meat but not multiples. Just my 2¢.
At least FireBoard got that right by having multiple colors for the Pulse. Then they kind of blew it as they cannot take searing level temps, at least nowhere near the 900+ for CI and RFX.
I liked my Temp Spikes ...when they were new. Going on 2 years old and they do not seem to work / monitor temps consistently. I will say that Delilah was built with 1/4 steel and I need to be very careful about where I place the control unit.
FYI: Meater + never worked-signal too weak, immediately returned that item!
