Mister Buddy Mats are perfect for protecting decking beneath a smoker or grill from dropped hot coals, dripping fat, spilled BBQ sauce, and more. Smooth on the top side for easy cleanup and ribbed on the bottom for airflow to help prevent mildew. Read our full review at the link above.

Excellent. This is a common question and it looks like a great replacement for those now discontinued cement board ones.

Yep, but unfortunately at 2x the price of those.

      That is inflation for ya.

I've seen it stated that rubber-backed grill mats can cause. discoloration of composite decking. 1) do these all rubber/recycled tire mats have the same issue? or 2) is that not really a problem?

Mine has not discolored my wood deck over more than a year BUT mine are on a stained deck.

Nice review. I'm still using my cement board mats, especially for the kettles and PBC. The PBC will eventually flake out the cement mat in the area just under the drum, so I now put 4 pavers under the drum on the cement board mat before I fire it up. No more problems with PBC heat damage there. Been using the same cement board mats for over 10 years. Too bad they're now a part of BBQ history, never to be seen again.

These tire mats look good, though. I like the ribbed underside idea. Thanks for giving us a first peek at the review.

I use pavers on a cement board under my PBC too.

Thanks for this. The owner of my local ACE told me to buy all his cement mats because they weren't gonna make them anymore and I sure wish I would have. I bought a mat off Amazon that was immediately destroyed by my PBC.

Try putting pavers under the PBC on top of the mat you bought to replace the destroyed one. It gets pretty hot under that barrel, cook after cook.

I cut up the one cement mat that my PBC finally crackled its way through and use the largish pieces, strategically placed. At the time, they were still selling the last of the cement mats, so I bought more, and started placing pavers under the PBC on top of the cement mat.

        K.

fzxdoc that is exactly what I did. I had leftover pavers that match my patio

Awesome. Thanks for the preview. I'm looking for a circular mat for my SnS kettle, but I could not find an option for the circular mat shown on the Amazon site. They seem only to have the rectangular mats available. Has anyone else found the circular mat option?

They don’t even have a website….If they do, I couldn’t find it. Their ad and video show circular mats available but don’t give you that option. Kind of frustrating. 🤷‍♂️

Still got my cement board mats. 10-15 years now? 2 of them, one under the kettle and one under the bronco. I move the kettle one when I use the wsm.
