There are laws regarding claims on food packaging but that doesn't mean everything is what it seems. In this article, Tamar breaks down many popular terms found on food labels.

Good stuff! And there is more where that came from, much more.
Like “Heart Healthy”. Far from it in truth.
Natural flavors. Doesn’t take much to cal it natural, not much at all.
Vegetable oil. Not from vegetables but from seeds and they will put multiple in parentheses, meaning whatever they have the most of & is cheapest at the moment.
You could write a book on this. Oh, many have. As she did.

Another misleading item on the label is the portion size versus the ingredient percentage. I quite often find that the portion size is ridiculous compared to what is actually consumed

and also if the number of portions on the nutrition label is 2 1/2 servings, you can bet the actual quantity is around 2.4 servings.
