    My First Santa Maria Cook!

I was visiting my out of state in-laws and my brother in law was showing me his "fire pit" that came with his house when he bought it. I recognized it right away as a santa maria grill with rotisserie. I quickly volunteered to make dinner for their family; as I have been keen on trying a santa maria. We cleaned out all the ash and debris from many camp fires. I fixed up the lifting wires and was ready to cook. I picked up some B&B Hickory whole splits from Ace. I tried to find some nice tri-tips to satisfy the stereotype, but could not find any (East Coast after all). I settled for prime new york's from Costco. They came out amazing! Everyone was pleased. I don't have the greatest photos as I was focused on cooking. I am a fan of the Santa Maria and plan on getting an attachment for my weber kettle.

Haha, ya considering they didn't even know that their fire pit was really a grill.

So sorry you had to "settle" for new york strips. Looks fantastic. There is nothing like live fire cooking.

I've seen the LSG Santa Maria and it looks very nice. I don't think I'll get a dedicated SM but just an attachment to my 26 kettle.
