Everything will be okay as long as you ask the other person to hold your beer...

Never use your beer to put out a fire.

Of course not. Smoker_Boy. That’s what your buddy’s beer is for.

That one dumb@ss guy who lives in my neighborhood told me that about 10 years ago he cooked chicken on a gasser every Sunday for over a year without once cleaning it out. Well, he dang near burned his house down when the grease caught on fire because the grill was positioned under the eve of the house he lived in. He said that grill burned for over an hour and he was lucky that the propane line didn't get melted. He'd have been in a world of hurt.

Somehow he survived and bought a house in my neighborhood...

OMG what a story. I hope you live several houses down the street from that guy.

If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at? So, I'll fall on the sword. This isn't the stupidest thing I've ever done, but it's darn near close to it.

In my early years (20+ years ago) I had the bright idea of putting a frozen brisket on a gasser and "smoking" it overnight. There might've been alcohol involved and some enthusiastic friends at the house. We took turns changing out the smoke chips in a foil pouch and spraying the brisket down with water and apple juice.

Needless to say, surprisingly there was a decent smoke flavor but when I tell you it was like cutting into 30-year dimensional shingles, it was the toughest piece of beef I've ever cooked. There was no saving this brisket, totally a file 13 execution. To this day, I have no idea what our expectations were, but it makes for a good story, I guess.

The worst fail I have ever seen was not due to a fire failure. Crowley Lake, opening day weekend around 1988. Huge storm drain grate over an open fire, covered ,with 1 1/2" thick porterhouse steaks - maybe 20 or so. Dipshit #1 had dipshit #2 making salad. Dipshit #2 took the empty plastic bottle of dressing - a big one - and threw it into the fire under the steaks. Hilarity ensued.

I had one small grease fire in my old Char-Broil. I closed the lid, turned off the tank and it was out pretty quickly. It wasn't even bad enough to ruin the food.
Some of the things these clowns were doing was off-the-chart stoopid. I noticed one segment where an observer asked if the other person was ok. As far as the others go, I don't think I would stand there and laugh as my friend caught fire.
