I am thinking for the family and friends at get togethers. What say you?
Kool Aid Pickles (Mississippi)
These are exactly what they sound like: pickles soaked in Kool Aid. Found in the Delta region of Mississippi, they sometimes go by the name “Koolickles.” If you have a craving, you can make your own. The cherry flavor is traditional but choose whatever color Kool Aid you like. For full Kool-Aid saturation, cut the pickles lengthwise in half before brining, or start with spears.

🥒 Koolickle Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 jar (24 oz) dill pickles (whole or spears)
- 1 packet Kool-Aid (cherry is classic, but any flavor works)
- 1 cup sugar
Instructions:
- Drain the pickles: Pour out the pickle juice into a bowl or measuring cup.
- Mix the brine: Stir the Kool-Aid packet and sugar into the pickle juice until fully dissolved.
- Return pickles to jar: Place the pickles back into the jar (or a large container).
- Add the Kool-Aid brine: Pour the sweetened Kool-Aid mixture over the pickles, making sure they’re fully submerged.
- Refrigerate: Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 5–7 days. The longer they sit, the deeper the flavor and color.
