We get these at work. When empty they make great containers for storing waste oil and such. With the large opening it's easy to pour whatever in with minimal spillage. We also have drums for waste oil to be recycled at work, I might of slipped a lil brisket or pork oil in with the other.

        Maybe check this out.
Where I live the city/county/village self help centers (the place where you go to get rid of change oil and they tell you after looking at your DL that you have to go to the other center 14 miles away ) The local one here accepts used cooking oil.....
Makes deep frying a lot easier

One man's grease is another man's tallow and lard.
Soak it up with kitty litter and dump it
It burns really well to start campfires, etc.

Check with your city. They may have a FOG (Fats, Oils and Grease) program and collect household fats/grease.

You could also check local restaurants. They generally have an Oil/Grease drum, unless they have a grease interceptor.

Or just keep doing it the way you do.

                Brian,

Your approach to grease disposal is probably the most common. While I have done the very same at times, I can offer an alternate solution. When I deep fry chicken wings I store the waste oil in whatever container I have kicking around. I use the oil to act as an accelerant for camp fires. I do realize that this is not practical for everyone but the same could be applied to your grease disposal query. Just a thought.

A couple of tablespoons of stearic acid per cup of hot fat or oil does the trick, according to Consumer Reports.

My wife will freeze the "juice" into small containers and use it a variety of dishes that have a gravy. She will add it to gravy and it is awesome, her beef stew made with leftover brisket and juice in the gravy is to die for.

Haven’t tried this yet but I wonder about it’s application here…
