Lookin' for a general sauce for stir fries and fried rice.

It appears that SWMBO has become gluten intolerant. At least her stomach does not get upset if she stays away from gluten.

My go to contains teriyaki, soy, black bean sauce, chili bean sauce, and toasted sesame oil at the end. Both the teriyaki and soy are low sodium, but both contain gluten - enough to make SWMBO uncomfortable. I switched to gluten free soy and teriyaki, but the both contain tons of sodium, and the stir fry I did the other night was too salty.

I can probably come up with something, but I am lookin' for a little inspiration.

Here are the sauces/brands that I use for the normal stir fry sauces and such that I make.

San J makes Tamari, which is a gluten free soy sauce (black label), and a low sodium GF sauce that is good (gold/brown label)
Lee Kum Kee makes a Panda GF oyster sauce that is outstanding, I don’t think it’s salty…but that is person.
Bachan’s makes a GF Japanese BBQ Sauce that I feel is similar to teriyaki sauce, just thicker.
Kikkoman makes a few different GF sauces, but I like their Hoisin sauce.

I don’t know if this will help with the sodium content, but it gives you a few ideas to look for GF at least that are really good.

If I can help with GF options for other things, please let me know. Happy to help in any way - especially bread, crackers and such.

Thanks. San J has some sort of plant here on the other side of town. We pass it every time we go to the airport. I will look for the tamari locally as well as the oyster sauce. I'm pretty sure I can get most of these on Amazon if necessary.

RonB - I have picked these up locally a well, San J, Bachan’s and Kikkoman all at Albertsons. The Oyster Sauce, I picked up at the local Asian Market that I like to visit.

I like barelfly's suggestion of Bachan's GF BBQ Sauce. Try that instead of the soy and/or teriyaki. Your local Target may carry it.

Yup on the San J Tamari & it is not high in sodium. Then there is a Premium Oyster Favored Sauce, Dan Hai (Megachef) from Thailand. Red Boat Fish Sauce is really good from Vietnam. All are gluten free.

What about oyster sauce, tamari, fish sauce, Shaoxing wine, and mirin?

I wish I could buy Shaoxing wine locally, but it's not carried by the VA ABC. It's also not available in NC and I haven't found it in TX either. I did find it online, but it's 3 X more than it should cost - plus shipping.

I'll have to look for lower sodium versions of the others. What I have tried was very salty.

For substitute on Shaoxing - dry sherry is what I use. I don’t believe Shaoxing is GF, at least from what I read, but that was a while ago. RonB
