So last Saturday, my wife told me someone in our neighborhood posted on Facebook they were giving away a pellet grill. They said it was in very good condition but needed a new controller. After messaging them, I found out it was a Rec Tec RT-680. Needless to say, I now own it. And the bad controller? Turned out to be the auger motor was the culprit. Added a flat washer to keep the rotor in place and voila, works like a charm. Made ribs and a small brisket on it Sunday and it held the temp perfect. I went ahead and ordered a new motor and drive because $50 is worth it, just incase. Now I just need to repaint the lid, the previous owner did some artwork on it I'd just assume get rid of.
