Hey... easy now.... pellets are just very small sticks.... without bark.

At high heat, pellet cookers don't produce much smoke if the controller is super efficient. You have to have a pellet dump on burning embers to produce effective smoke. If pellets are metered out slowly, not much smoke happens.

That's a beautiful cooker. Thanks for the clean inside photos! Good choice!

Troutman, Congratulations on Your New Pellet Cooker‼️ The Chicken You Cooked on it Looks Fit To Eat👍👍👍👍👍❗️ I'm Sure You will come up with a Way to Infuse More Smoke Flavor Going Forward❗️ The Only Fault I Could Detect from Your Pic's is the Made in Texas Label❓❓ 🤗😇🤗
              I don't Suppose it's Optional❓❓

Great looking pellet grill. I really like the shelf and the way the racks slide forward for easy access!

Nice purchase. How was the price of this smoker compared to the Rec Tec you were researching? Are there specific things you like about it that the Rec Tec doesn't/can't do?

Rec Tec appears to make a great product as does Yoder. My P&S was about the same as the YS640 less the freight, which is what drove me to local. I think they all pretty much have the same PID type controls and function similarly. I just really like the way the P&S cooker box was built for the long haul.

Can you cook direct over the firebox like you can on the Yoder? I have been eyeing a YS640 for awhile, I think the Pitts & Spitts looks a little better which might be an easier sell to the wife.

Yes they make a similar trap door option in the drip plate that has direct access to the burn pot for grilling. I didn’t opt for that because I have better grilling options.

Nice! Always good to go local! Enjoy that pellet thing, I was sooooooo super close to going pellet before pulling the trigger on a Primo XL at the last moment. Who knows, maybe I will expand my empire the same way one day

Thanks for the recent props but as Spinaker mentioned this is an old thread, I’ve had this for 8 months and cooked tons of meat on it.

Pros - huge capacity, I’ve cooked 2 butts, a brisket and a couple of rib racks without using the top rack! The PID controller holds temps to within +-5*. Has a 30# hopper. Easy to clean. Cooking results are excellent, set and forget !!

Cons - low smoke level. Any temp above 220* and forget about smoke. Even a tube and tray are hard to keep lit due to combustion gases swirling. The Pellet Pro PID was recently replaced in their new model. My PID i believe is TOO precise, so no smoldering pellets. New controller also has WiFi capability.

I would recommend this cooker, especially with the new upgraded controller. Cost is in the upper class of pellet poopers but given care this cooker will probably perform and certainly out last me!!

Glad to hear you like it. They look like nice rigs. I feel like the low smoke thing is a given with Pellet smokers. Thanks for your input TM! Keep the Smoke Rollin' !
