Bummer! This will be a test of someone’s customer service!

I'll hazard a guess that Fedex just dropped that on your doorstep without a signature required, and left before you could reject the shipment.

I had Fedex deliver a much smaller and lighter package - a handrail for our pool steps - and they snuck it into my open garage and left it propped against the back of our car, without even bothering to ring the doorbell or anything. What if I had hopped into the car and backed up without looking? As it was, the handrail was hanging out of the box, and had a huge dent in the part that was still in the box. I probably would have rejected it and made Fedex take it back.

Amazon has a replacement on the way now. Funny thing? The original one shipped from Georgia, got here in 2-3 days. The replacement is coming from California and will take a week. In the meantime my 30 day return window shrinks if the next one is bad or damaged.

You could start your return process now and cancel it if it arrives fine.

Luckily I was home to refuse it. That’s some seriously crappy service they gave you. I hope it’s resolved to your satisfaction.

Sid...I am so sorry to see this. Grilla has great support and I am sure they will get one out for you quick. I am sure you were planning on cooking this weekend! Sorry...

Thanks David. Yes, I was planning to christen it with some beef plate ribs on Saturday. I’m bummed.

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to me after waiting 20 weeks for my LSG. It arrived with scratches all over the top- some genius with the shipper loaded something on top despite being clearly label not to do so. The shipper was not FedEx though. LSG fixed everything without issue, but the extra four weeks to ship it back and forth was torture.

I’m glad it worked out for you!

I posted this just to vent before I ran off to work, but I should have included more details.

It was shipped via FedEx Freight, and the driver was great and told me I should refuse it, which I did. I emailed the pics to Grilla before I started this thread, and I’m sorry to say that they haven’t responded. I assume they’ll take care of me, so there’s just the frustration of even more waiting at this point.

That was going to be my advice, vent. Sometimes it feels so good to wait until no one can hear you then clear off a spot and have a damn fit. It will not solve any of your issues, but you will feel so much better. That internalized stress is a killer. You will be able to talk calmly and rationally to those who can fix this mess. It seems half the civilized world takes a pill to unwind because what I suggest sounds uncivilized. I’m going to out live them to prove my point.

I’d forgotten about this until just now. When I first tracked the package it was listed as 535 pounds, and was later corrected to 237. I wonder if there was a 298# package on top of it…

Maybe it’s the new ownership? I bought mine a couple of years ago and I’m near O’Hare and I got mine super fast via a freight company XPO. Hope they make this right.

This morning I’ve had both an email and a call from Grilla, and they’re going to rush me a replacement. "Rush" means they’ve put me at the front of the line - not that they’re overnighting it or paying extra to get it to me more quickly, which I didn’t expect them to do. I begged them to make sure it’s shipped today or tomorrow, but they wouldn’t commit to that.

That’s good customer service as far as I’m concerned, and I’ll call it great if they can get one on the road to me this week…

Oh I missed that post, I though they just dropped it off but I must've confused that with other commenters about similar situations.
