    Patio change up

After getting my Gozney last year, we decided to do a bit of a change up. We had always designed it as a grill area, but I was starting to need more prep space for pizzas, and for larger bbq’s again,

We took the 22 kettle in it’s custom table which was where all the cooking was done, and recommissioned it to being in the garage next to my 22 wsm for neighborhood cookouts.

In its place we added a large stainless prep table instead (Christmas gift from my wife). Having the Gozney on a cart, and the Summit kamado on wheels, we store those off to the side now, and wheel them out by the table when in use. More of a food prep area now rather than a grill area. It also means my Summit has become my daily driver.

Most of it was opened up for the season yesterday. Refrigerator, freezer, ice maker all cleaned, sanitized and turned on, the T.v. Is up, just need to put the curtains and lights up in the gazebo still. But I’m already enjoy the table.

Beautiful area! I love it Richard! I like the idea of being able to wheel whichever cooker you are using up near the prep table for the cook.

I was all about doing a fixed outdoor kitchen a couple of years back, and even drew up plans, with my SNS kamado and Camp Chef griddle built in. But I just find so many times that I really want the cookers somewhere else, or in rainy weather, up under the edge of the pavilion roof. But I prefer them away from the seating area when weather is nicer. So I'm just keeping everything on the original carts for now.

You are inspiring me to spruce up my backyard though - that's for sure!

I've also learned over the last 5 years with Yvonne's health ups and downs that our house is NOT wheelchair friendly, even with a ramp in the garage to enter the house. The 1960's builders made the bedroom hall and most doorways at that end too narrow. I wish ADA building codes were standard for residential construction, and had started decades earlier.

Jim, I feel you on house with wheelchair friendly. We have done so much remodeling in our house to just get it somewhat friendly,

We just installed an automatic door for me going from the garage into the house, as I have had it with trying to go down a ramp (too short and steep, but it fits) while trying to close doors with rope tied to the handle and not drop things. Now it’s a push button like stores. and even a pocket remote.

Also, you have to understand, ADA is a civil rights law, not a “building code” and when used as a building code, it falls way short of reality in needs.

Beautiful area and set up. My BBQ area needs some TLC now that our kitchen remodel is done. I like your proximity of the dining table near the sink, refrig, etc. Nice lab too!

A reminder of what this back yard looked like in 2018 when we moved here, my wife had bought me my 22 kettle that year, but I could never get back there to cook, unless it had not rained for a few days as my chair got stuck. It’s all her. Here is her garden area built in that same area of the water standing.
