These are the best I have found. I've got 4-5 of them on the patio.

Bummer looks like they do not make them anymore. These were the best! Looks like most of them now are silicone based mats.

I have this one under my MAK and Napoleon gasser. Very heavy duty.

I use pavers from HD/Lowes under my wsm. I grew tired of reading reviews on mats as they all seem to have episodes of melting and/or smoking, catching fire, etc... The only thing to be off concern with the pavers is your heat isn't touching them, imo.

If anyone else had bad experiences with pavers I would like to hear so I can do a little "preventative maintenance"

Looks like ATBBQ has a decent mat: https://youtu.be/Uhd1aEU4WFc?feature=shared

I ordered one that looks identical from LSG when I got my smoker and love it. Don’t see it on LSG’s site anymore though.

+1 on the ATBBQ mat. Mine is 5 years old and I have dropped maybe 3 lit embers/coals on the mat with very little damage to the mat and none on my wooden deck. For me, it performs as advertised. I would recommend the mat to protect your deck. Mine is under my Weber Kettle.

I’m not sure what your setup is but I have my gas grill and pellet smoker on my deck with both composite and natural wood boards. I bought two mats for the smoker and gasser but I put my charcoal kettle on the ground by my lower deck because embers don’t play well with plastic or wood.
