My Rancilio Silvia espresso machine. Couldn't live without it. Ok, maybe just don't want to. Joy all day long from the moment I get up through about 4pm. Coffee coffee and more coffee.

GMG Jim Bowie, Amazn tube smoker, grill grates, frog mats, Bizerba slicer
Ok, I have to admit I didn't read through this thread, so I probably out in left field, but the title grabbed me. The appliance that has brought me the most joy, hands down bar none, was an old hand held mixer my wife had. It was the type you could unplug at the wall, or the appliance. After mixing batter she unplugged it from the mixer and dropped it in the batter, and proceeded to lick the batter off while plugged in the wall. Apart from a very loud shriek, no serious injury. 15 yrs later I still LMAO every time I think about it

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
The electric kitchen appliances that I would keep include, in order of frequency that *I* use them - not necessarily SWMBO:- Coffee maker (#4 cone filter). I use a cheap one that had a good rating in Consumer Reports and online, that was like $20. Can't remember the brand, but it makes good drip coffee.
- Mr. Coffee burr mill grinder. I don't think Mr. Coffee makes them anymore, but a burr mill is the best way to grind your beans. This thing is 15 years old.
- Kitchenaide Stand Mixer. My mother in law gave this to us, and I've since bought a meat grinder and shredder attachment for it. Before that we were using my grandmothers 70+ year old Sunbeam Mixmaster. We use this any time we bake anything, and I use it for the attachments.
- Toaster. We have a unique 2 slice pop-up and toaster oven combo. This thing is great for reheating pizza slices and fried stuff, and saves space since it doubles as a popup toaster. This one is very shallow, about half the depth of a normal toaster oven. I think it is Black and Decker, and looking at their website, no longer made.
- Blender. We have a Kitchen Aide blender, this one a hand me down from my parents. Works great, except for the fact I have to replace the rubber disk that engages with the blender blades about once a year, as SWMBO loads it up with something too hard for it to chop up, and it strips the rubber that engages with the bottom of the blade mechanism - I think this is intentional, and replacements are readily available.
- Vacuum Sealer. I use this frequently to seal meat that I want to freeze. It's also great for sealing up leftovers that I want to portion out for future meals.
- Crock Pot. We have 3-4 of these in difference sizes. Personally I think we could get by with 1 or 2 if we had to. They are great to keep pulled pork warm for party, cook a pot roast, and serve cheese dip in.
- Anova. I just don't use it often enough to justify having bought it.
- Chopper. Sometimes I use it to grind spices, but I could crush them with a rolling pin in a plastic bag just as easily.
- Espresso Machine. I have an old Delonghi pump, that makes a good cup of espresso and can steam/froth milk just fine. I just don't think to use it, as I drink black coffee most of the time, and to use it, I have to go downtown and buy good fresh espresso roasted coffee beans from a local place.
- Electric Carving Knife. This seemed like a good pre-Thanksgiving purchase 4-5 years ago. I have never unboxed it.
- 20 quart Roaster/Oven. I used it ONCE for a turkey, and its been used ONCE to fix a big mess of stew. It also can serve as a warmer with 3 little trays that drop in it.
- Food Processor. It was my wife's when we got married 31 years ago, from her previous marriage. I've seen her use it less than a hand full of times. I've used it 3-4 times, if that.

Equipment:
'88 Vintage Fire Magic gasser with over 4000 cooks to its credit
Large Big Green Egg
18 Inch Weber Kettle (Rescued from neighbor's trash)
Rotisserie for 18 inch kettle
Dyna Glo propane smoker
Pit Barrel Cooker
Smokey Joe with mini WSM mod
Garcima paella burner
Anova Sous Vide
Slaiya Sous Vide (gift)
LEM grinder, sausage stuffer and meat slicer (all gifts)
Favorite Beer:
Key West Wheat
I can't say as any kitchen appliance brings particular joy, but the only one I couldn't live without is the Bunn coffee maker.
The rest of the stuff in our kitchen that gets used more or less frequently ie. has the honor of permanently occupying the kitchen counter top:
microwave
toaster oven
5 qt KA mixer
14cup Cuisinart food processor
Sodastream
Items that we don't need and are put away somewhere, but that support our hobby type activities:
Lem big bite grinder
Lem sausage stuffer
Lem meat slicer
bullet type choppers
bread machine (used exclusively on the dough cycle)
a couple of pizza/baking stones
a couple of clay bakers
a couple of different size bannetons
and probably others that I can't think of right now
Edit: Probably should have added Anova and another off brand sous vide circulators and a foodsaver vacuum sealer to the useful, but put away list.Last edited by johnec00; March 17, 2021, 06:07 PM.

Backyard Jambo, T1000 Woodmaster, MAK 2 star, 14" & 22" WSM, 2x 22" Weber Kettle, Stoven, Hot Box Grill, Hasty Bake Ranger, RecTeq Bullseye, GMG Davy Crockett; Original Grilla and others I'm not remembering!
Last night, the air fryer brought me joy with perfectly done tater tots!
What lives on my kitchen counter is the small instant pot (used every other day for Sam food), a toaster, Keurig, Ninja blender/food processor. These must be replaced on failure. I considered tossing the Forman grill, but didn't. Haven't tossed the waffle maker, but might. Love Anovas, so they stay. Stand mixer is so handy. I'm definitely going to try chicken thigh burgers mentioned above. Hand mixer I use. Stand mixer is handy for unlumping gravy and I just found extra attachments for it to try!
This was fun!

Now that this thread has been resurrected from the dead, I'll add to the list of KEEP appliances:
- Instant Pot. This bad boy can pressure cook, replace a rice cooker, replace a slow cooker, and do many cool things.

Simplify in the lectric appliances resurrection department. In the 16 mos. flyin solo, the only gadgets I have used is a coffee grinder (Capresso, burr grinder), cheap 2-slicer toaster (mebbee 2-3 times a month), microwave !!! All my cookin is done on my lectric stove, SnS Kettle (love it), Napoleon gasser, Smokey Joe & my clay Wok oven/pot. I am about to use a hand blender that I have, as I’m going to make some mushroom soup I saw Kenji make. That may be a keeper.
I am totally sold on the coffee grinder, wouldn’t be without it. Although I have 2 cheap blade & one hand grinder. Yes, coffee is important friends. All the rest of the stuff, blenders, crock pots, mixer, food processor (big & small), openers, popcorn, ice cream maker, etc. I don’t & haven’t used & don’t intend to. I think I’m pretty much settled in.
Now about the voice overs, well, that is something I’ve been dealing with all my life, so I live with it. I do have some pretty neat conversations, yessir!Last edited by FireMan; February 9, 2022, 09:31 AM.
