    An Important Accessory: Gloves

There is one piece of gear I suggest to all: a good pair of gloves. I'm wondering what you use?

    For me, I use: https://weldingsupply.com/cgi-bin/ei...:OR:JOURNEYMAN

My hands are usually too big for these. I can get them on, but they are tight. Its much easier for me to use Pit Mitts. I have a bunch of Pit Mitts around the house. Pretty much anywhere I cook regularly. You ca grab hot pans, rebar in the PBC and pretty much anything that hot. They don't insulate as well as welding gloves but for cooking, I'd rather have dexterity.

LOL I was watching the Bear Grylls show and Shaq was wearing Pit Mitts since they were the only gloves that would fit his hand.

Hahaha, i saw that. i was thinking. Imagine how hot that would be?!? Must be why he buried them in the woods. Atalanta

Still use welding gloves here. Inexpensive, effective, and you can fling them right off if you overheat.

I used to have the same gloves but I had to get rid of them after using them to pill BF's cat. Poor Klondike was so traumatized, anytime he saw them he'd totally freak. I know, cats are supposed to be color blind, but I sometimes wonder.

I used to use my welding gloves, but I found these recently and like them a lot. They arent as clumsy, but still do the job.

For handling really hot grates and fire baskets I use these and like them a lot:

For everything else, I use the Pit Mitts that Spinaker recommends.

I really like those pants. I think one would look, well, groovy.

There are lots of different brands of these, the key being the aramid fiber (also in the gloves recommended by fzxdoc , Abom , and Spinaker ). I have a pair and I can use them to pick up red hot grill grates, right off the fire. Can't juggle them, though. Gotta put them down in about 10 seconds or so.

I use something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Resi...ag=amazi0a8-20

But I'm only cooking with a gasser, so don't need to move coals or anything like that.

                These are mine: http://www.harborfreight.com/3-pair-...loves-488.html
I gave away a pair to a friend who was getting a new grill. I don't know why BF doesn't sport a pair, he waves his hands enough when he grills LOL

I was going to get these: https://www.amazon.com/Lincoln-Elect...ag=amazi0a8-20 But it was easier just to go to Harbor Freight. Besides, I can sew on red suede later if I want.

My girlfriend got me some Bbq gloves once, they caught on fire and I couldn't put them out, no kidding.

I go au naturale. Nothing like smelling the burning arm hair and screaming out in pain from a third degree burn.
