I'm doing my deck over and installing a patio. Right now I keep my grills on my deck and all my other stuff (charcoal/wood, grates, rotissiere, thermometers, gloves, tongs, racks, etc etc etc) in a couple cabinets in my garage. For the new larger deck, I'm thinking of getting a kitchen cart type unit on casters to keep outdoors with my grills that can serve both as some counter space for prep or taking things off the grill, as well as storage for all the things I use when cooking. Only problem is that I can't find one that is all stainless steel and I think a wood unit would not last well outdoors, esp in winter, even if covered with a grill type cover when not in use. So wondering what y'all do for your storage--do you have some sort of storage close to your grills, and if so, what do you use; or do you store it away? Thanks in advance

I have a shelving unit in the garage that is for all my "BBQ crap" as my wife puts it. I'd love to have a storage unit out by the patio, though.

I was thinking about something like this, with a stainless steel top. I have a nice cutting block I could put on it as well for prep. Only thing is I wonder how long it would last outdoors, but i can always get a grill cover for it when its not in use. Has drawers for thermometers, lighter, tongs, etc and then some flexible storage for cutting boards, pans, etc underneath. Would love something like this in all stainless so it would last but haven't seen it yet. http://www.hayneedle.com/product/hom...reateacart.cfm

I have been looking for a stainless steel cart myself. From your description a cart sounds like it would fit your needs best.
Having said that I found this while searching about.
There's a new way to streamline your camping kitchen thanks to the Camp Champ, which packs a home kitchen's worth of cooking gear into a neat box. At camp, the box opens up into a full kitchen area complete with stove, cookware, dishes, tools, utensils and plenty of counter space. On the road, the…
I love the old chuck boxes.
But since "glamping" is not on the itinerary any time soon I think I'll save the six large.
Good luck with your search.

I have discovered that it's best to buy a shed...one big enough to live in with the family while all my bbw crap stays in the house. It's cheaper than buying another house. I try to keep all my stuff in my garage. I have bookshelves that was the right size next to my car lift and then 7 ft racks along the back walls. I try to sneak stuff into the kitchen, but she finds em and sets em on the counter for me to take back out to the garage. She says I'm worse than a pack rat. Sheesh...she just doesn't understand my addiction

Found this on Wayfair.com. They have some others on there that are similar to what you described. Outside of my budget but maybe get lucky on CL or a restaurant supply store. I like to keep my gear in plastic bins separated by function so I can bring them with me when I'm cooking with friends.

About me
Real name: Aaron
Location: Farwell, Michigan - near Clare (dead center of lower peninsula).
Occupation:- Healthcare- Licensed & Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at MyMichigan Health, a University of Michigan Health System.
My mom found a Stanley toolbox at a yard sale a few years ago and she bought it for me. I began using it for my BBQ tools, and it works great.
It's a decent sized one, 24" X 10" X 12" deep, with a top tray like you'd expect.
I don't know how water proof it is since I don't leave it outside, but knowing me I'll find out before the snow flies.
The top tray houses my spatulas, tongs, thermapen, lighter, etc.
The top (exterior) lid compartments will each hold a Maverick and its receiver.
The bottom holds my roll of foil, saran wrap, box of Weber cubes, few wood chunks, few pairs of rubber gloves, salt & pepper, Southern Flavor seasoning, and I've even put a few lbs of charcoal in a garbage bag and carried it in this for beach day. Extra Maverick & pobes too.
I assume you mean a more permanent solution than a simple tool box, but this is handy for me because it's a quick grab to take my stuff camping, fishing, or to the beach.

I have a 28" Stanley Fatmax tool box that I really like for some of my hand tools. I'm thinking about picking up another one for my BBQ stuff. My wife has been asking where I'm planning on putting all of my supplies...
Link to the box:

Blowingsmoke Perfect! Being a tad bigger than mine, it will work well for you. Mine can fit a full sized chimney in the bottom, but a slightly bigger box would be better for sure.
-
I picked up a 116 gallon deck box on clearance at Menard's last year at about this time. It holds my 30 lbs box of wood chunks Fruitawoodchunks.com, 2 18.6 lbs bags of KBB, a 20 lbs bag of Timberland lump charcoal, the chimney, grill cover when not in use and a couple of over bits. I haven't had any humidity or water issues storing my charcoal outside in this thing.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I have a waist high cabinet that I have a photo of and will share, and a tall cabinet that I will take a photo of and share. Each was around $100 and they work well. Lowes or Home Depot, I don't remember which.
The top of the cabinet is a plastic cutting board I ordered from Amazon, I think it was about $70 but it fits the top perfectly.
