I had no idea how versatile the ol' Weber kettle is. That knowledge, plus the original Slow 'n Sear, has provided the basis for just knowing how to run a variety of cookers since then. I'll also add Thermapen, Fireboard, B&B charcoal, and OKJ Bronco to the list.

So basically on the same subject. I can’t be the only person who can look around in their kitchens and really feel really lucky to have the kitchen and cooking tools you have. For me it really pushes me to care for them the best I can.Last edited by Richard Chrz; June 7, 2025, 01:16 PM.

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
I thought about this and deciding on favorites is difficult. All have their purpose and place to get it done. This goes for cookers and their accessories. They are used for certain cooks. Gasser for quick ones, hotdogs and burgers. Ribs, Pit Barrel. Wings, Kettle and Vortex. Large cuts, could be Pit Barrel or Kettle with SnS. Depending on my desire for the cook. They're all my favorite as are all the cooking tools to read temperatures, flip, grab and slice.

I was just thinking last week about making a post like this as I realized y’all had convinced me to go from 2 kinds of flour, AP and cake, to 4: AP, cake, whole wheat and white lily.
2 of my 3 cookers are because of y’all: the OJB because of the barrel competition and the Backwoods Party that was graciously given to me for rehabbing.
Y’all are to blame for my wok and Panhead John got me into vacuum sealing. Sns-500 was due to Huskee’s recommendation.
I also blame y’all for my anova’s. One at home and anther at the church.Last edited by J-Melt; June 7, 2025, 08:52 PM.

The PBC (I've since moved on to the PBX).
KBQ.
On my patio, my Weber performer is my Master Blaster, the KBQ is my Field Cannon. The PBX does whatever I need it to do, from cooking for 2 to 25...

SnS 22" kettle, 22" WSM with Pit Viper, 36" LSG pellet pooper
24" Blackstone griddle, 6 Gallon Cajun Fryer.
50K BTU wok burner.
LSG pooper, Fireboard, Cajun Fryer, SNS insert, SNS grill, WSM, Blackstone flat top. Thermoworks thermometers. Grill Rescue brush. Plane tickets and hotel in Texas.
You all are killing my checkbook! But please don't stop
The Cajun Fryer was the dark horse of the bunch. I wasn't sure it would be that much better than the big pot and outdoor burner I had, but Spinaker seemed to really like his, so I went for it. It has already saved me enough on frying oil to pay for itself. It is way easier to use, and built so heavy duty that my kids will have to fight over it after I'm done waiting for the worms to come.

Jambo Backyard Smoker
KBQ
Weber Smokey Mountain (22" & 18.5")
PK360
PK Original Grill
Pit Barrel Cooker
Weber "Brownie" Circa 1978 22"
Weber 70th Anniversary model 22"
Weber Genesis
Weber Gas Grill, Silver A
Santa Maria Attachment for PK360
Vortex
Favorite Beer: Peroni
Favorite Sports Teams: Rams, Dodgers, Kings, UCLA Bruins
Things I have bought through recommendation by AR posters or AR review:
KBQ smoker (best offset I've ever cooked on, Better than a Jambo)
LG Refrigerator without indoor ice maker (so far works great....fingers crossed)
Santa Maria attachment for my PK360 (fun little attachment. Sturdy and well made. Made some great chicken on it the other day)
SlowNSear Charcoal basket/water reservoir and griddle pan (worthless, gave them away)
Anova Vous Vide cooker (bought one on sale and has been great)
Things I will not buy, though recommended by AR posters or AR review:
Any pellet smoker (a descendent of the legendary Easy Bake Oven)
Grill grates (why? It is grate on top of a grate)
Meathead Method (1st cookbooks are always the best. After that, authors are generally capitalizing on their popularity. Besides, have access to all the ebooks)Last edited by TripleB; July 14, 2025, 07:24 PM.
