    Injured by a charcoal chimney

I've been using chinmeys to start my charcoal for years because it seemed less dangerous than a blowtorch, but I may have to rethink this. Today one of my chimneys fell off of a 6-1/2 ft shelf and hit me in the head. The very sharp edge caused a 2 inch gash, requiring a trip to urgent care and nine staples. I was responsible for it falling, but beware of the knife-like edge on the bottom of these things.

Yikes!!! Other than the staples, I’m glad to hear you’re alright! I always worry I’m going to do something stupid like grab the chimney while it’s still hot, but I never considered the fall risk.

Yes, this was pretty stupid on my part.

Pics or it didn't happen. AI generated medical bills not accepted.

Glad that is all it required.

That's a gash! Glad it wasn't more serious, head injuries aren't good.

Who would've known how dangerous this hobby is. We use sharp knives, work over blazing fires, and handle hot utensils. Well, if I save one member from a cut on the head from a falling rusty old chimney, it was all worth it.

Wow, when I read the title I thought, sparks/burn, not cut to your head. Heal up quick.
