    Patching BBQ grill covers?

My grill covers have held up decently well over the years, especially directly exposed to the Texas climate. My Weber Kettle cover -- an Amazon Basics! -- has lasted four years and my PBC cover (their's) has lasted 3.5 without any issues, other than each becoming a bit stiff over time.

They've now developed some minor tears in them, but nothing larger than an inch square or so.

The Weber I am not overly worried about as that porcelain coating is nearly indestructible; the cover is mainly to keep bird droppings off. The PBC, however, has the tear on the top, so this causes rain to pool up on the lid and I'm starting to get some rust.

What's an effective way to patch these things? Eventually, of course, I will replace them....I just don't feel like spending $60 on covers right now.

What about the kit you use to patch an inner tube on a bike tire?

Those patches are tiny. Cutting an old inner tube and using Gorilla Glue or rubber clement would work though

They make vinyl patches for cheap furniture fixes. Been a long time, but I used one for my convertible top that had a leak, and it outlasted the rest of the top.

I've used this on a Camp Chef cover I've got that got a puncture tear. I stuck it on the inside and it's held well for a couple years. Amazon.com: Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Tape 4" x 10' White, (Pack of 1) : Industrial & Scientific

2nd on this one. When I have 3 patched tears, I get another cover!

Flex Seal spray, apply on the inside of the cover. I use clear.

I believe they also sell a tape.

Indeed! It is 4inches by five feet for $15 bucks. I bought three rolls of clear and patched a seam that was coming apart right in the center of the awning. Worked perfectly! Soo sticky it was difficult to handle and install.

When all else fails, black duct tape

            +1 This ... It's called "100 MPH tape" for good reason ...

... and then when it's time, just buy a new cover.

We fixed everything in the Army with 100 mph tape, bailing wire, and 550 cord

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think I'll get some some of those vinyl patches. I should be able to source some of that locally.

Or good Ol’ fashioned original Grey duct (duck) tape.

Flex Seal. When your finished you can use your grill as a air boat.

I make fun of that bogus commercial everytime that goofball comes on. The four inch wide tape is quite substantial! But it is a PIA to cut and get into place. Black, Brown, Grey, Blue, and clear. $15 for a five foot roll. He is still a goofball.

I make fun of that commercial constantly. And seriously, if you want to make a screen door into a boat it is probably the best option (though there's a similar product made by a better known manufacturer that I would prefer)!
