I'm a 6 hour drive from Memphis, or 1 hour drive to Shreveport to fly shreveport to houston to memphis, or 3 hour drive to houston and fly to memphis in 1hr 30 minutes....

10 hour drive for me versus just under 24 hours on Amtrak. They have done away with the non-stop flights from OMA to MEM, so now it takes about 4 hours to fly.

My darling Jill suggests a grilling Elvis in full dress and dessert of peanut butter banana cream pie.

I just did a little checking and you can't book a room more than one year out. However, the current rates on Hotels.com is around $179 per night. Booking through the hotel is around $450 per night.

I'd be tenting it at a nice campground before I'd pay much over $120/night. I'm a cheap sucker. Or a broke sucker, not sure which trumps which.

Huskee I hear what you're saying, but my wife's idea of "roughing it" is the Holiday Inn.

I am certainly in; only a 5 hour drive and hope to get a contingent from NW Arkansas. We also hope to have seasoning experts there from Newly Weds Foods.

I am so up for this. Meathead I would like to request maybe something from Meadowcreek and their line up. The only thing I haven't done so far is a whole hog and I really think that would be cool. I know you have a lot to jam in but I think that would be a good traditional cook. Thanks.

I really like the idea! I'm gonna have to fly over, that's all there is to it. I especially like the fact that it is in Memphis, which feels suitable for a bbq event.

I could do a Myron Mixon imitation, laying it on thick with a real wide Unadilla/Georgia accent. "Now where I come from, pork is kiiing"

I for one is a big fan of the butchering. Have taken classes myself, that is super interesting.

I also love a good butcher class. I went to one at the University of Minnesota Meat Science Lab, last spring. Super Cool!!

Who's up for a couple friendly BBQ competitions? Maybe an AR staff competition.... Maybe a sign up sheet for a member competition.... All depending on cookers available of course.

I don't know Jerod Broussard will drive over that $1.49 Prime Brisket, Muskrat and whatever else he hunts in his back yards and may just kill a competition.
