If something happened to mine, I would have another one on order within 24 hours. It is a fun grill to cook on. Highly interactive and you see everything going on. It generates some very nice fire roasted meat! My wife loves the stuff that comes off and is always quick to tell people is not too smokey. I always cook on a live flame of course.

Tandoori boneless, skinless chicken thighs last night.

Kicking it off. It was a chilly night and the fire felt great. Had a sniff of bourbon to go with it.

Maybe it's just me but I'd rather drink the bourbon.

Yes, I have! To be honest I have not had a big problem with the one I have since I don't tend to overload it. But that is a good upgrade.

Cooked a slab of ribs on the Lone Star AGS last night and had some left over. I trimmed them up and warmed them up on the Watchman tonight. I do like my Watchman on a cool evening! This little grill is one of my favorites and gets a workout.

Timmed and hit the hot grate of the Watchman

So does the grill have a damper (handle on the side) or is it just fire size driven?? Very interesting Grill.

No damper, just "throttle with splits".

Between home and a camp, I own numerous grills/pits. This is absolutely one of my favorites. I don't do long cooks on it of course but for a pork tenderloin, chicken thighs, chops, etc. it is the bomb! Highly interactive and quite appropriate for a good bourbon on the rocks! A Kindling Cracker to go with it is a must.

Alphonse, I see one in my future. Not sure when, but I know it is coming. I'll have to wait a little while since I just got a pellet grill, but I can feel it coming on.

wow this thing is wicked cool! Mini stick burner to satisfy the live fire urge. The charcoal attachment is very cool indeed.

I think there will be one in my future.

This cooker has lived in the back of my mind from the moment I saw it. Today I went back to see what they're charging nowadays and I see they are no more 😭. Serves me right for dragging my feet.
Does anyone know of any cookers similar to this?

Andrrr Most other places call them rocket stoves. There’s a ton of videos on youtube about building them with everything from pipe to cinder blocks.

Thanks. I knew about the rocket stove name but none seem to be built as well as this one. Heck, part of me thought this would be a good excuse to get a welder! Oak Smoke

Andrrr Get one! They’re great to have. You can get most of the accessories you need at Harbor Freight without spending a fortune. Look at Primeweld wire feed welders. They enjoy a great reputation.

I had forgotten about this stove. I too wished for one at the time. A quick Google turned up this:

                Looks very similar.

I’m not sure how I missed this thread, but I am SUPER interested in this cooker now. I’d be curious to know how the one ComfortablyNumb posted compares to the original that is apparently no longer available.

Well, well, well. I took a better look at the stove and watched the video. My interest in this type of stove has been rekindled. (No pun intended) (Okay, maybe it was) Question is how to sell it to the powers that be. I do have a couple of cookers that aren't being used. I got a PK 360 to use during summer burn bans, but then charcoal became part of the ban, so I haven't used it in a couple of years. I also got a Hasty Bake from the monthly drawing; I set it up and it's still a virgin in my garage. I could easily sell one or both of those and have enough to get one of these and wouldn't even have to ask permission. I just have to get off my lazy ass and sell something, which is like work for me. Thanks a lot Andrrr ;-)

You're very welcome. It sounds to me like you've already figured out how to get it too! I can't wait to see it in action.

Interesting cooker. Makes me want to make one! Looks like most of it is 6” square tubing.

I have neither the tools, skill or space to make or weld my own. I took a quick look online at pricing though on a 6' piece of 6" stock and it was almost $300!

I believe it's all carbon steel. I noticed they also sell the plans for it. So, you can reinvent the wheel and make your own design, or you can get the plans and cut your own material, or you can get a pre-cut kit and weld it up yourself. Or, for those without skill, equipment, or time, just purchase a completed stove.
