I did a lot of research when I was in the market for an offset stick burner. I even had a spreadsheet with 20 different makes and models with their sizes, specs, and pricing. I finally decided on Workhorse pits and couldn't be happier with my decision. These pits are fabricated with 3/8" steel which will outlive your grandchildren.

Their 1957 model is the one I’d buy if I were making the decision today!

Just trying to remember but I believe Ahumadora built one similar when he was living in Argentina. I think he catered several parties at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires with it. I miss that guy.

He built a BUNCH around that size... dude had a company churning them out before he moved to New Zealand, and then started it up there, as well. But he's been trying to get away from it.

Simpler than a KBQ . A KBQ has an ATC so all you have to do is manage the coal bed. And cooks faster (convection) than the normal offset. I used to have a Jambo and it was a beautiful piece of equipment. The KBQ was easier to manage though.

I think the real issue here is how we're going to get all that post oak up to WI...

I said it in jest but I appreciate the offer! I don't see myself driving to Texas anytime soon, even without considering the cost of gas right now Oak Smoke

Andrrr it was all in fun! I don’t see me cutting up a load for someone else. I’m just too old and lazy.

Oak Smoke As someone who recently forgot to bring gas for chainsaws that had to fell and buck up a couple of big redoak with my doublebit about a month ago, id advise against it.

It would be a bit of a drive, but this LSG just popped up on FB in Austin: (1) Marketplace - Long Star Grillz 20x36 offset smoker | Facebook

Looks to need a good cleaning, but that could help on negotiating. It's a handy size for two people or more, has LSG quality and performance, that front stainless shelf is handy, and has the "cowboy" firebox grate which wouldn't mean much to me, but could be useful for the right person.

Dang Bob that’s a real deal! Let me see what kind of mood the budget director is in.
