You guys and gals have gotten me interested in stick burners, and today I checked out the Lang website. I discovered that Lang is only an hour and 43 minutes from my house. Is this a sign from God?

Yes, EdF, I want one of those as well. The KBQ make more sense for me, to be sure, but the romance of a pure stick burner - it's a summit I feel called and driven toward. Talk me out of it, please.

          • Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Not really, but looking at the website feeds my addiction to "more." I saw the 36 Patio here in Max's reviews and felt I'd be content to have one, but then I went to Lang.com and saw the 48's and the option for a cooker on a trailer I could hook up to my truck and experienced a need within myself that heretofore was undiscovered.

EdF, have you just scrambled my brains. I really didn’t know much at all about the KBQ & didn’t want to know much about it. So I didn’t pay any mind to them any which way. The thread devoted exclusively to them, nothing. Pictures of it, nada. One was used in “cookin today”, zilch. Out of sight out of mind. I know nothing, I see nothing, I didn’t even get out of bed this morning.
And, you made it so easy to catch a peek, a true peek. Then you hit with Max’s review. Oh what is a Pit dude to do? Woe is me! I am laid to waste, in shambles, as I come to grips with life. Maybe a good dose of Spam will soothe the pain. Than again, who am I kidding.

3.) #WhoDat1, a HUGE Gravity Fed Insulated Cabinet Smoker (cooking chamber 3'x2'x6')
4.) A Full Size Commercial Dryer/converted to Vertical Smoker.

12.) Austin Smoke Works 500 Gallon Propane Tank Offset Smoker, named "Lucille" as travel pit for PaulsRibShack, Oct 2018.
12.) Opening Brick & Mortar location at 4800 Nelson Rd, Spring 2019. Had a pair of 1,000 Gallon Austin Smoke Works pits, both in RibShackRed for our new place!

Fabulous Backlit Thermapens, several Maverick Remote Thermometers (don't use any remotes anymore), Thermoworks Smoke, Other Thermoworks toys, Vacuum sealer, lots and lots of equipment...

I'm loving using BBQ to make friends and build connections.

In an effort to arrive at complete discernment, I suggest also figure the length for the trek to hang with Jamie Greer at Jambo Pits, near Ft. Worth. Road Trips are SUPER FUN, and I love smoking on my Jambo!!!

I did. Legs crossed, palms together, fingers up and in front of me. A top a mountain, in front of a fire, with a blue moon in my eyes. The Oracle speaks through flame and smoke. Her face, her body, in a trance. I ask without speaking. With a voice from the grace of Valhalla she answers. "Yes." She doesn't say much, in which I am relieved. Oh boy. Got carried away there.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

            the good one grill
The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Griddle And Deep Fryer In One

            Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all!

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

            Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.

            NK-22-Ck Grill
Napoleon's NK22CK-C Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It's hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the NK22CK-C a viable alternative.
