    Turkey prices

Went to the local grocery store yesterday and the turkeys were starting to be put out. A Butterball, don't remember the poundage, over $40! I'm waiting for the last-minute sales. Or maybe it will be Spam this year

Yeah, I was bummed to see that turkeys were not yet on sale here either. Maybe next week.

The Kroger stores in my area started selling their store brand turkeys right from the word "go" at $0.99/lb a couple of weeks ago. That was good enough for me, so I didn't wait around to see what they would do from there, and they have maintained that same price.

We have Meijer in our area and I'm guessing they are somehow related to Kroger since their turkeys too are $0.99/lb. Got a 16-lber for about $16.

I checked our local Meijer as well. .99 per pound. Going there tomorrow after work

I have to wonder why anyone would buy their bird so soon and pay so much. It will only sit in the fridge or freezer for a week or two taking up space. Wait, get the same bird, and save a bunch of money. Makes no sense.

If they're still available in two weeks.

I grabbed a turkey at Harris Teeter for $0.99/lb. I think I saw them at Target for $0.79/lb.

The on line add I get from the local United Supermarket is showing ButterBall for 97 cents a pound.

When it comes to Thanksgiving Turkey, I just close my eyes. It is what it is. Stuff is high right now for sure.

I thought I saw an ad for wild fork for around $.99 butterball. I need to go back and check.

I got my turkeys a few weeks ago, 38 cents a lb for Butterball... then again one of the owners of Butterball is a few minutes from my house so...

Ok. Our neighbor just stopped by and gave us two Butterball turkeys at 14-15 lbs. each. She said she bought eight turkeys on Amazon Fresh for $40. I checked it out and she exaggerated slightly, but they are selling for about $7 ea. Heck of a deal

We just picked up two birds from our Kroger City Market. They were on sale and remember them being very reasonable.

I think Butterball was $1.09/lb and Honeysuckle White was like $0.88/lb at local WM. This was a week ago or so.

I need to start thinking about what to get...

Turkeys are nice a couple two three times a year. The scraps make great stock. IMHO if it were not for the day of thanks, consumption would drop dramatically.
They are a nice change of pace, a lower fat content protein. Fat is flavor! I will have a point of briskie or some snausages, if it were totally up to me. It is not. That is why I am not as big as a house, yet. Carry on.
