Went to the local grocery store yesterday and the turkeys were starting to be put out. A Butterball, don't remember the poundage, over $40! I'm waiting for the last-minute sales. Or maybe it will be Spam this year

The Kroger stores in my area started selling their store brand turkeys right from the word "go" at $0.99/lb a couple of weeks ago. That was good enough for me, so I didn't wait around to see what they would do from there, and they have maintained that same price.
I have to wonder why anyone would buy their bird so soon and pay so much. It will only sit in the fridge or freezer for a week or two taking up space. Wait, get the same bird, and save a bunch of money. Makes no sense.
Ok. Our neighbor just stopped by and gave us two Butterball turkeys at 14-15 lbs. each. She said she bought eight turkeys on Amazon Fresh for $40. I checked it out and she exaggerated slightly, but they are selling for about $7 ea. Heck of a deal

fav is brisky. Love Turkey on PBC. also Turkey in the glass,(any nice bourbon)
Bud has always been my barley pop.
Been smoking a handful of years, just got serious in the last two or three years. Thanks to AR n @glemn picked up an SnS Kamado for appx 1/3 price of new. I dont think he used it twice. Love AR! keep calm n smoke on! Miss you Bonesy.
Turkeys are nice a couple two three times a year. The scraps make great stock. IMHO if it were not for the day of thanks, consumption would drop dramatically.
They are a nice change of pace, a lower fat content protein. Fat is flavor! I will have a point of briskie or some snausages, if it were totally up to me. It is not. That is why I am not as big as a house, yet. Carry on.
