I am so sorry to hear this. I knew Ernest had been away from the pit for a year or two, but hoped he was just too busy to hang with us mere mortals. His cooking and photography skills were at an entirely different level. So sad for his family.

Ernest was a legend even among a group of BBQ-obsessed individuals. You could immediately tell whether a photo was his without even looking at the poster’s name. The amount of times the collective group groaned over having to immediately follow an Ernest post on SUWYC was pretty much constant. He was simply impossible to follow up as any effort would pale in comparison. I’d sigh heavily if it was my turn as even what I’d consider a great meal and photo would look rough!
More so than just skills, he was a kind and helpful individual that provided a lot of good advice on many wide-ranging topics. His presence was missed, as numerous past posts checking on him note, and he will be missed deeply here. Safe travels my friend.

Wow, this is sad to hear. He was the man. He helped me a ton and was the major proponent for me getting my KBQ. He started the largest KBQ thread on the forum. He was a true chef and extremely talented. More than anything, he was just a great guy. RIP, my friend.
This thread here is a true testament to his willingness to help others. It also showcases his talent for cooking and photography in the kitchen. A true Pitmaster Club legend.
