      Lots of delicious meat there!

Blasphemy spare ribs. I bought a half rack of pre sliced spares at the supermarket. Applied a Malcom Reed inspired hot rub. Smoked over hickory and Royal oak lump for 2.5 hours at any 235°F. Basted with my rum molasses sauce for the last half hour. Served with smashed taters.

They were delicious. No whiskey today as I have to drive this evening.

      Moist! Candy coating.

I put on some ribs, filled a fruit jar with some sweet tea, and made an Old Fashioned a la Don's Seafood here in Lafayette, LA, in honor of Mr. Bones. Got busy with the little critters and forgot to take a picture of the finished product. Rest easy, Bonesy!

Dr. Pepper you know Bones loved his beans

Well, these are not my best effort, I’m slightly embarrassed. Either way, it’s not about that, I enjoyed the day, the weather and the company for sure. Flavor was terrific on both, there were none left, but both were dry, oh well.

      Here’s to Bones!

That is the beauty of Mr Bones. I could sometimes post a less than stellar result preceded by a Herculean effort. Somewhat embarrassed, I would post the photo anyhow. Effort deserves posting. I would always apologize for the results and I could count on Mr Bones to point out the rainbow in the cyclone.

tbob4 I agree, I think he coned me into believing I was a good cook, which then gave me the confidence to keep trying.

        I'd eat those, any day.

I’d like to point out the irony of this thread, and Mr. Bones belief, in that he stayed as far away from popular as possible, wanted nothing to do with the word. Yet, he is celebrated by all. I chuckled a few times, even seeing his face on Facebook in ribs posts.

I debated a bit, but ultimately, I know plenty of humble folk who would never want the spotlight and do everything to stay out of it... but a single public kudos makes their year. I'd like to think Bonesy would feel the same. Plus a few of the folks who saw my cook will be getting some leftovers tomorrow so they should know the importance of the reason for the cook

Oh, I was so happy to see the posts there as well. Thank you for sharing.

Spare ribs rubbed with Oak Ridge Dominator Rib Rub. Turned out good! And, an extra photo of my daughter who refuses to eat ribs with her fingers unless she has gloves… I’m sure Ol Bonesy would have come up with something witty about this

Panhead John i see the pun...

Got the shoulder on before midnight - and that mattered to me...

      Tonight was the meal.

This shoulder only had one bone.....and there was only one Mr. Bones. I said before....we were better to have had ya, and we are less without ya bones....there was a lot of smoke wafting up your way these last couple days, I know you enjoyed it.

Just salt and pepper. No wrap.

I have tried to like every post associated with a cook. It's been challenging. That's a good thing with the now 13 pages of posts. I'll keep at it. Please keep your cooks coming. I don't think I'm done yet. It will be later in the week. Not sure what but if I do it, it's gonna have bones in the cook.

        love this! Thanks, Richie.

The great thing about this was that lots of these cooks were described as the best yet. Bonsey's spirit was for certain steppin through the pit this weekend. I want to add my thanks to Steve B and Spinaker for setting this up. AR is truly a special place.

My pleasure. IT was the least we could do to honor a legend.

Alright folks (specifically texastweeter) I prepared a world map of all the Mr. Bones Memorial Cook day participants in this topic. No, Norway and Africa are not necessarily to scale compared to the US.

What an honor to our friend!

What a great way to celebrate!

I know its late, but here's pics of my brisky tribute. It's what I had on hand, and hopefully it passes muster.

Toasted with a Jim Beam Black in honor.
