Hello from the Sacramento, California area

I've been using this site, like many of you, for the last few years. I finally took the plunge and joined. I love bbqing and smoking and have been doing so for years but I have learned so much from coming to this site. I look forward to getting to know some of you.

My wife's family is Norwegian ... they moved to Minnesota and then Seattle area, were fishermen out of Ballard (just north of Seattle).

Thank you! I'm mostly Norwegian. It's a place I would like to visit sometime in my life to see my ancestral roots.

Howdy Chad Hertzell ..... I'm a Sacramento native that escaped to the Northwest 15 years ago .... Actually, my mom's family is from Galt, which is where they settled during their migration from the dustbowl in the 1930's. My father's family is from Placer County, mostly. I was born at Sutter Memorial, which I understand no longer exists.

Welcome to the Pit, an awesome place to hang out and share BBQ stories

For grilling, it's all about charcoal. Almost always HEB brand mesquite charcoal. If not that, then Kingsford mesquite charcoal.
