There is a saying in the tech industry that you never want your product to release its compressed smoke. Samsung recently got bit by that.
So I get my aggression out by smoking meat. Despite BBQ being quite rare in these parts, a few buddies (ok, only one) and I have a passion for BBQ. He introduced me to Amazing Ribs a few years back, and I've been absorbing like a sponge, getting in the science and tech of BBQ. There is some absolutely amazing (no pun intended) info on this site. So I'm happy to give a little back and jump in the pit.
For Christmas, my lovely wife bought me the grill/smoker I've been looking at for quite awhile... a GMG DB w/ WiFi. For her, spare no expense to have me cook more frequently! Plus she grew up in Santa Maria, so she was raised on tri-tip back when they used to have it there. At its core, the GMG DB is great sorta-grill / sorta-smoker (it really is a glorified convection oven) and with some tricks, it has done well and I'm quite happy with how much easier it makes smoking than my last smoker. The WIFI / app side of it leaves a lot to be desired, but to their credit, GMG is really trying to fix it all, and their support has been decent.
Anyway, happy to join in the group here, and perfect my game in a land where many people have not even had smoked meats. I can't thank the AR crew enuf for the great work they do and info they share. Thank you!
