Welcome to the Pit from Baltimore, Md! π
I have a Weber Summit, and I also have two Primo ceramic kamados. Here are a few thoughts:
1) The Summit heats up pretty quickly, and as fzxdoc says, it holds temps very well and is very responsive to adjustments.
2) Depending on your lighting method, the ceramic Kamado takes longer to heat up, and compared to the Weber Summit, I honestly donβt think it is any better at holding temps. If I overshoot the temperature, it is easier to rein in the Weber than the ceramic.
3) The Weber Summit is 24β in diameter. For an equal size Kamado Joe, you are talking a much higher price.
4) The Weber weighs a heck of a lot less than a Kamado Joe or similar ceramic. (My Primo XL is approximately 313 Lbs!)
I love both my Weber and my ceramic Primo, for different reasons. If I had to choose one or the other, I am 90% sure that I would choose the Weber Summit.
Important caveat! This is my opinion and mine only. Your mileage may vary! π
