Welcome to the Pit from Central Massachusetts!

                    Your in the right place.

When I started most members also recommended a kettle. I don't remember ever actually seeing one in person (then again I'm just out of dialysis and I just smoked some marijuana). Yay!

However, I opted for an OKJ Bronco. The Bronco and some kettles are about the same price. The two things I picked up on, almost everyone who has one also has more than one smoker or are looking for more Q space. Grate surface area... With the Broncos optional ($19.95) accessory grate it's cheap and easy to double your grate surface area.

There are several 'must have' accessories accessories for the kettle. I could be wrong, and often am in this state, there is an accessory that's not to cheap. SnS something or other, when I looked a several months ago, it was like $150.00. Considering a purchase price around $400, it must work damn well as you can see in the Pit.
Yes, there are less expensive kettles. But I can easily cook a TON of ribs or whatever in the Bronco when the occasion presents itself. Or just a few reverse seared steaks...

Just to give you and idea... There are members that buy charcoal by the pallet!

                      Welcome to The Pit

Those cookers all have their place. If ya tell us what you like to cook, (or would like to cook), and for how many, we can help. But all you have to do is look at my avatar to see what I would recommend.
