What a great thread! I googled "kbq built in to outdoor kitchen" and here I am. First time posting here. CALNZ, I'm in much the same situation as you and curious how your project turned out, and whether you have any lessons learned. Thanks so much for the diagrams and ideas you already shared. I've been thinking about many of the same things, right down to getting an architectural Grillworks. I'm still mulling on whether to do a griddle (and which) and/or a gas grill as well. Also planning to put a Gozney Dome pizza over on the counter and running out of space/budget...
Regarding the KBQ, I was also thinking about venting the smoke, either with a hood above the unit, or possibly by building a big enough hearth/chimney stack to encompass both the Grillworks and the KBQ side by side. I had originally been wondering if adding doors and some adjustable venting to the Grillworks installation might feasibly allow some smoking/roasting, but this led me to thinking that adding an excellent purpose-built smoker like the KBQ might just be the better option.
