Great gill! Built like a tank! Thick stainless steel. I've had my Tec Sterling for 13-14 years and never had a cover over it. Replaced all 3 burners about 2 years ago and ready to cook for another 10+ years. Gets extremely hot. My instructions said not to cook past medium setting with the lid down, said it would damage the burners. Good Luck, you will love it!

Thanks OM. I’ve been playing with it all summer. It is for sure it’s own style of cooking. Or smelting iron lol

Looks Great! As far at the high heat, drippings tend to vaporize/incinerate with little or no flareups. One thing I have noticed is that it seems the heat goes straight up from burners. That is, the food directly over the burners gets very hot, while the food that is past the burners doesn't get as hot and, consequently, doesn't heat evenly. So, if you place a steak 3/4 over the burner with the rest close to the edge of the grates, the portion over the burner will get done faster. I always try to arrange all food directly over the burners so everything gets done at the same time. However, you end up losing a lot of real estate that way. Let me know if you experience the same thing,

Mine's the one with the glass panel, and the burners (I believe) go pretty broad under it. Haven't really noticed an unevenness effect.

The ones with the glass panels are the newer generation. The one he has pictured and the one I have is the old/original. All that goes over what you see in the picture are the grates. There is nothing between your food and the burners except the grates.

check amazon for aftermarket stainless grates. You may find they have them. first search by your grill, then if that doesn't work, search by size. I bought the same type of grates for a weber genesis B that I rebuilt for about $32. - nevermind-

I did a quick search, and did not find anything that was inexpensive.

Thank you bten I plan on keeping this all original. I mean these are still 304 stainless so there still solid. If I invest in anything else for this it’s going to be burner screens.

The burner screens are available on amazon. Just search for the TEC Patio II. I don't know how the price compares to other places.

Shoot, you could heat water in a pot right ON that grill for all your SVing needs.
