TEC Patio II Refurb

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a TEC first generation infrared grill a while back. A 2005 Patio II. Its taken me awhile to figure out if I was going to rehab it or not. While they are built like a tank. Absolutely beautiful grills. Rolex in every way.

When I first got it I replaced one of the burner ceramics just to see how it cooks. Verdict is HOT! It's not a grill that likes to be turned down. You can't cook with the lid down above medium. It's hot.

Well I finally got around to deciding what to do with it. The second ceramic burner plate arrived to day. I'm going to clean it up and use it as a dedicated plancha grill.

It doesn't need much. These things are basicly all 304 stainless. Some sheet metal need straightening. A good cleaning.

I just thought I'd do a pic thread of the trip.

I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

We have a little TEC Cherokee. It's a great machine for plancha and for direct. They say the new ones (which are way out of my pay grade) can now do low temps well. Nice recovery, Jon!

Turn down on the new TECs is spot on. They can even do slow and slow. The burner system was totally redesigned. I like you just can't pay the freight on it. Someday ,maybe.

It’s getting there. Oven cleaner. I’ll finish with ammonia. Then bring some shine with Bar Keepers Freind.
