I cook very few griddle-worthy meals, since our breakfasts and lunches are very simple affairs: I don't eat either meal and husband wants something very small, usually a fruit and a protein like cottage cheese or chicken salad--or small leftover portions.

Even when the kids come to visit with their little ones in tow, I leave the fancy breakfast-making to them. The last 2 visits, they didn't even break out the Neuske's bacon that I had purchased or the package of my home-smoked bacon either. They'd rather sip their smoothies or eat their granola crunch on the deck chairs while I give the grandgirls the kind of breakfast they never get at home: Lucky Charms with Marshmallows and donuts.

So try as hard as I can, there's not enough MCS rationalization for a stand-alone Blackstone, much as I'd like to join the club and play with a new toy.

The large Steelmade Griddle I purchased for my 6 burner Summit gasser serves us well for the smashburgers, Philly steak sammies, etc. that I like using it for. Most stir fries are done on my wok on my outside Camp Chef Somerset gas range with their 30K BTU burners.

Plus, as jfmorris notes, it's nice when using the Steelmade griddle on the Summit gasser that I can flip the lid down as needed to cool off. (I'm assuming one could do the same with a Blackstone lid???) Plus the gasser's 270° surround catches most of the spattering grease, a real plus for the neatnik.

Because my existing removable griddle gets such minimal use, I have no imperative to purchase a standalone griddle.

Now if only I could apply the same dismissive logic to a pellet cooker, which continues to have a recurring measure of allure, only, again, not because I need one or even like that sort of smoke profile, but because it would be fun to play with. Maybe what I need is a new hobby with an untapped source of new toys to get.

I have a cast iron griddle for my flat top needs. Just fire up the charcoal grill and put it on top.

I have a PittBoss ceramic coated griddle and I like it, I really like how easy it is to clean after the cooking is done. I tried using cast iron griddles on my gas grill and I found clean up a big chore. I’ve had my griddle 3 months now, I am making new things like chicken fried rice with good results. I may get rid of my cast iron griddles as I doubt if I will use them again.

I have one griddle I keep for use in the house on two burners of the stove. It's my pancake griddle I used while the kids were growing up, and will use if I ever get any grandkids overnight. But like you, with a big griddle in the backyard, I don't see needing a separate griddle for my other grills anymore.

I don't have a Blackstone but I have a 3 burner camp chef stove with a griddle. When I got it a few years ago I used it almost daily, especially when I was out on the RV. I haven't used it much lately though, not sure why. I need to fire it back up. I like smashburgers, but cheese steaks on that thing are magnificent

They are what they are, a giant frying pan. Very useful when you want to cook that style of stuff. Also useful for searing roasts and steaks, don't forget that.

+1 on using the flattop to sear steaks. This is my current favorite method of cooking steak. On the searing hot flattop, flipping every 30 seconds

My Flat Top is not my primary cooker BUT I love having one and using my Camp Chef:
          Bacon
          Hash Browns
          Stir Fry...and more

We never make a large enough amount of food to take advantage of what most cite as a griddle's top advantage, namely all that space. Almost never cook breakfast, for example. And it seems like such a mess to clean up after... a big platform full of grease. Just haven't seen a need that a griddle would fill...

I too am just so so on my griddle. I hardly use it, preferring the Summit. I am planning some Philly cheese steaks next week so I will definitely fire up the griddle for that unless the wind picks up as usual.

I get it, all of you who just haven’t taken to it. Myself, I just haven’t taken to sous vide. Same thing: it’s good, it works, I don’t use it. By the time I remember it, if I ever do, dinner is half ready already. But really the circulator just sits in a drawer and I never think about it.

                  So, yeah.

That's me with SV, I've done about every standard thing with it and have just never taken to it. I use it but more out of a 'I need to use this so I stay familiar with it' than anything else. And truth be told I was never interested in a griddle until I had one, then I began to see its varied uses and its huge convenience over skillets.

tstalafuse Maybe this can garner more enthusiasm for the griddle? 🤓

Nice technique! I’m not sure about the yellow mustard directly on the griddle. But one way to find out! 👍

I didn't say I disliked it. I just don't see that it is any better than the gaser sitting next to it, which is also meh. They are both convenient, easy, and quicker than firing up the charcoal grill. I just don't think it is the life altering cooker that many people who say it is so good they cook on it 90% of the time now and are thinking replacing their stove with beer keg fridge.

As for the video, she doesn't like mustard on her burger and will only use Helmann's mayo.

I’m in between when I use it I like it for certain things, I have a steel made that goes on my Weber gasser but it’s heavy and I find I enjoy cooking on the Weber charcoal more.

I can’t speak for the other folks, but buying a griddle has been life altering for me anyway.

I have a love/hate relationship with the one my wife bought, but most of the issues I suspect are specific to the warped top that's almost impossible to season/maintain. But I still use it from time to time and I enjoy when I'm using it, just not the before and after care.
