If I ever bought a flattop, it would be...

...so I could cook hibachi style meals. I wrecked the kitchen tonight making hibachi steak and chicken with veggies and fried rice.

And this is just what's on the stove.

We have an indoor electric griddle, but it's not really large enough and there is only one cooking zone. I wound up using our largest skillet and cooking one thing at a time. The fried rice was first, and went into the oven that I had preheated to 170° and turned off. Then I cooked the veggies followed by the proteins. I used the Lodge CI press to put a good sear on the steaks, and then put it on the chicken for too short of a short time.

There are some things I will do a bit differently next time, (and there will be a next time 'cause SWMBO loved it), but I did think it turned out very well. However a griddle would have been much easier to use and much easier to clean.

I have no idea if I am right or wrong, but isn’t like this a perfect wok scenario? Everything in one wok? No mess?

I needed more surface area in order to mimic a flat top and to cook everything like what they do in hibachi restaurants.

And each item was cooked separately. It would have gone much faster on a flat top where I could have cooked everything at the same time. I would also been able to adjust each burner as need - hot for cooking and warm for holding.

A wok means lots of small batches, compared to a flat top...

Or a wok, just sayin. 🕶

After seeing STEbbq ‘s comment & to clarify, one wok but not every thing in the wok at once 1950’s chop suey style. There also would be a mess similar to what you had, cept on the prep area & not the stove.
Rilly good lookin cook. And what a great benefit, yer wife liked it, you don’t count.

You have a gasser? Can't speak for other than Weber. They have full size inserts for Spirit and Genesis. I have the 3 burner for the Spirit. Works like a charm and solves the room issue which is what I had.

Hibachi style meals, cheesesteaks, tacos/quesadillas, bacon en masse, and smashburgers. And eggs/omelets/hash browns/pancakes. Five foods and one entire meal category is enough to require a new device. Find a spot, my friend.

Nice looking hibachi food without the hibachi flattop!

RonB I feel led, called even, to urge you to order the largest, most expensive flat top available. This is a spiritual thing, and I must speak the truth.

Come on now Ron. You and I both know you can squeeze a Blackstone or a Camp Chef 3 burner stove out there. Get creative man! You need me to come up there and help you out? Quit cogitating and get shopping!

My Blackstone is easily my most used cooker. I will always make space for one. Did a few meals inside this winter to avoid bad weather, and always regretted the mess I made. Flattops for the win!

If I could afford this my wife would have to do considerable work convincing me I don’t need it

At that price, why not get two?

Do you have a gasser? They make flat top inserts you can use for those? My dad has one on his Weber Genesis, and it’s all he uses for the grill now. No grates, just the griddle inserts. I know a few on here have other types that they are happy with. I think fzxdoc has one that sits on top of grates if I’m not mistaken. That may be one way to get what you need without taking space away?

The only gas here is after eating what I cook.

Used my 36" Blackstone a few times to do very large stir-fry or fried rice & hibachi style cooks. Holy smokes it does a great job for that. It's incredible to turn out that volume of food in such a quick time! I love it! Family chows down on it, too!
